2024 TAX VOLUNTEER PROGRAM: Spreading Tax Awareness Non-Stop!

Team 9 of the community service program, along with student tax volunteers from various fields, is continuing our commitment to the 2024 Tax Volunteer program. Our mission remains the same: to educate the public about taxation and encourage tax compliance. We primarily assist low-risk taxpayers in completing their annual income tax returns (1770 S and 1770 SS) through the DJP Online e-filing system.

Our experiences assisting taxpayers have been varied and enlightening. Some wanted to cancel their taxpayer ID numbers to avoid filing returns, others couldn't remember their email passwords, and many had questions about what assets needed to be reported. One taxpayer was surprised to learn how easy it was to file their return online and remarked, 'Why did I come here? I could have done this at home!'

Such encounters highlight the need for ongoing public education. Despite the convenience of online tax filing, many individuals are still unaware of the process. This underscores the importance of continuous outreach and education to ensure that taxpayers are informed and empowered.
